Hearby

Most therapists have waitlists of 2–8 weeks. By the time you're booked, the moment has passed. You don't need a six-month commitment. You need one good conversation, this week.

Every no-show costs you a session. Every cancellation is an unpaid hour you can't get back. Existing platforms make you join a clinic, share a panel, or wait weeks for new clients.

A therapist opens a slot
01

A therapist opens a slot

Licensed Ontario therapists post available times, including last-minute cancellations or planned availability, whenever they have capacity.

Hearby makes the match
02

Hearby makes the match

Clients complete a short intake. Hearby matches them with an available, verified therapist based on fit, need, and scheduling.

One session, paid same day
03

One session, paid same day

The therapist runs the session and receives payment within hours. The client pays only for that session, no subscription, no obligation.

Built differently,
on purpose.

No subscriptions, no panel fees, no compromises on privacy.

No subscription

Zero monthly fees for therapists. Zero subscriptions for clients. You pay only when a session happens.

Verified Ontario therapists

Every therapist is verified with their Ontario regulatory college before appearing on the platform. No coaches, no exceptions.

Same-day access

Therapists post real-time slots. Clients book the same day. The system is designed around immediacy, not appointment queues.

PHIPA-protected

The platform meets Ontario's health privacy legislation at every layer. Therapists remain Health Information Custodians for every client they see.

Privacy Mode

Session notes are end-to-end encrypted and inaccessible to Hearby staff. Your clinical relationship is yours alone.

Benefits receipts

Clients receive a detailed receipt after every session to submit to extended health benefits. Many plans cover RPs, RSWs, and Psychologists.

What Hearby is, and isn’t.

Hearby is

  • A single focused session with a licensed Ontario therapist
  • Same-day or next-day availability for real support
  • An evidence-based model with strong research behind it
  • PHIPA-compliant with full therapist privacy protection
  • Pay-per-session, no subscription, no commitment
  • A way to turn a cancelled appointment into earned income

Hearby is not

  • A crisis service or emergency mental health platform
  • A replacement for ongoing psychotherapy
  • A psychiatric or medication management service
  • A platform for couples or family therapy
  • Open to unlicensed coaches or uncertified practitioners
  • A subscription service or membership model

Our story

Built by therapists, for a system that needed fixing.

Hearby was founded by a therapist who watched colleagues lose income to empty slots while clients waited weeks for a first appointment.

The mismatch was obvious: available therapists and waiting clients, with no way to connect in real time.

Single-session therapy isn’t a workaround. It’s an evidence-based model that has been shown, repeatedly, to produce meaningful outcomes in one focused conversation.

We built a platform designed specifically around that model, and around the clinical, privacy, and financial realities of practicing in Ontario. We are in closed beta and building carefully, with therapists involved at every step.

Every therapist on Hearby is a licensed Ontario mental health professional in good standing with their regulatory college, including Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), Registered Social Workers (OCSWSSW), and Registered Psychologists (CPO). Credentials are verified before any therapist appears on the platform.

We are building toward same-day availability. Therapists post real-time open slots, including last-minute cancellations, so you can often book for today or tomorrow. During beta, availability depends on therapist schedules in your area.

Therapists set their own rates, typically $80–$160 for a 45-minute session. You pay only for the session you attend, no subscription, no recurring charges, no hidden fees. The fee is shown clearly before you confirm.

Yes. Hearby is PHIPA-compliant and all data is stored on Canadian servers. Your therapist is your Health Information Custodian, they hold your records, not Hearby. No Hearby staff can access your session notes. Sessions are end-to-end encrypted.

Hearby is designed for single-session work, but there's no limit on returning. If both you and your therapist agree to follow-up sessions, you can book again. That said, Hearby is not a replacement for ongoing psychotherapy when that's what the situation calls for.

Standard sessions pay 75% of the session fee to you, or 80% if you join as a founding therapist. Payment is triggered when the session ends and processed via Stripe Connect with same-day direct deposit. There are no monthly fees, no subscriptions, and no panel minimums.

Therapy, when it’s needed.
Not when it’s convenient.
